These are three concepts for the Severed Head prop for the short film, "The Dark." The whole idea is that the head has been severed from the body and carved out with a candle inside like a "Jack-o-Lantern" and discovered several weeks later. One of these designs has a more human-like approach, the other utilizes the skeletal form for optimal light penetration, the third is more contrived to be "carved" like a "Jack-o-Lantern."
The final design was the first one that keeps more of the human quality. Keeping the "Jack-o-Lantern" in mind, this version is designed so that light can penetrate through the ears, holes in the decayed cheeks, the nostrils, nose bridge, eyes, and mouth.
